What does it mean to live a good life? How should we respond to uncertainty, adversity, and success? This engaging online course offers a structured introduction to Stoicism—one of the most influential philosophical traditions of the ancient world and a powerful framework for modern living.
Developed by thinkers such as Seneca, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius, Stoicism combines ethical inquiry with psychological discipline. You will explore its historical development, core concepts, and practical techniques while reflecting on how Stoic ideas can be thoughtfully applied today.
Across eight weeks, you will examine the Roman Stoics in depth, from their understanding of virtue, reason, and flourishing, to practices such as the dichotomy of control, negative visualisation, and the “view from above.” Rather than offering quick fixes, Stoicism invites careful reflection and the cultivation of resilience, clarity, and moral purpose.
